Film Trailer Auditions

Hello!

As part of our planning, we held an audition for each character for our film trailer. We made sure to choose the suitable ones because we are looking for specific attributes to suit each character's personalities.

Following the auditions is picking the final casts for our film trailer. The following are the chosen ones and why came to this decision.

1. The Intercom
We chose Josh Chadwick to be the intercom voice because of his deep monotone voice. This is perfect because this is the type of sound you would hear when a mysterious villain appears in the scene. Moreover, he is the most confident out of the three. Jack Smith did not take the audition seriously and Connor Terry seemed nervous and unstable, therefore, both very unsuitable for the deep and dark voice we are looking for.

2. Fredrick
The second character is Fredrick who is one of the protagonist's friends yet is the prime suspect in the murder. In order to portray this character, we wanted someone who looks friendly and geeky but has a slight hint of a peculiar aura. Sam Brown perfectly portrayed this character compared to the rest of those who auditioned for the role. Lewis Brownlie could have been a good choice, however, his aura seemed conceited which would not fit the role and Alex Mason looked bored as if he did not try his best to even speak.

3. Zack
The third is the protagonist's boyfriend. His character is quite sensitive and for the audition, we are looking for someone who can portray the emotions of someone who has just lost a special person in their life. We had Connor Terry back for the audition and we thought he fit the best for this role because of his portrayal such as throwing the chair and having an anxious facade. Nathan Bates was quite good but overdid it whereas Ed Mauduit could not get his lines right and is doubtful all the time.

4. Lola
Lola is the 'mean girl' or rather someone who judges people's actions all the time, especially Anna Marie (the protagonist). Beth Abel not only is well-suited for the role but also did her audition in one take without any hesitation which is very outstanding. The second runner-up, however, is Tasha U'ren-Ashdown. She did very well but did not meet our requirement for the character which is to seem unbothered about the situation. I myself tried to audition and because of my shakiness and being unconfident, I did not make it.

5. Anna Marie
She is the protagonist and is the key element of the trailer. Her character is soft-spoken, kind-hearted and innocent. Tamryn Scott fitted this role ticking all the specification needed. The way she slowly comforted our volunteer is very innocent-like and her calming voice definitely makes someone feel reassured. Maisie Luke did not seem ready for the shot and Beth Abel could have fitted the role, however, we thought that she could re-audition for Lola's role.

6. Brittany
Although many have confused Brittany's character is similar to Lola's, it is not. Brittany is kinder and less 'mean' than Lola, however, Brittany is a sly and sketchy person who knows about everyone's secrets. Hence why people would think that she may be a suspect. Emily Sowell fit this role perfectly and although she was sitting on the chair in a less respectful manner, it fitted her character's personality greatly. Amy Hall seemed like she was unsure or rather unsteady with her position and James Standen was the same but was more unconfident.

7. Michaela
The plot is not complete without the protagonist's best friend. Michaela is a sweet person and is in distraught when she found out her best friend was murdered. Clarissa Mondeh displayed this character perfectly without any pauses and even added more lines to her audition. She seemed well-prepared and although Dawn Mukutwira's atmosphere felt the same, it did not match Michaela's sweet personality. Spencer Clement was confident as well, however, his aura does not match the character's as he seemed apprehensive.
